"DSP Siraj se speedometer bhi darta hai" - Fans react as Mohammed Siraj clocks 181.6 kmph on Day 1 of BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Team India's pacer Mohammed Siraj grabbed headlines on Day 1 (Friday, December 6) of the side's ongoing Adelaide pink ball Test against Australia. The 30-year-old's name was trending on social media after the speed gun showed that he had clocked 181.6 kmph.

The incident took place in the 25th over of the Australian innings. While it was more than enough to shatter Shoaib Akhtar's record of the fastest ball in world cricket (161.3 kmph), Siraj's 181.6 kmph speed was due to a technical glitch from the broadcaster's end.

The error sparked hilarious reactions among the fans on social media. Here are some of the top reactions:

"Shoaib Akhtar files case against this," wrote a fan on X.
"Cops ko over speeding allowed hai kya?" commented another.
"1+8+1+6 = 16 -> 1+6= 7 (Thala for a reason)," chimed in yet another.

There was a similar glitch during the Test series opener of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Perth. One of the Indian off-spinner Washington Sundar's deliveries was shown at 140.6 kph.

Mohammed Siraj remained wicketless on Day 1 of 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in the Adelaide Test. The visitors were off to a dismal start, with Yashasvi Jaiswal bagging a golden duck on the first first ball of the match.

KL Rahul and Shubman Gill steadied the ship with a decent 69-run partnership for the second wicket. However, India's middle-order batters failed to make a significant impact, with Nitish Kumar Reddy the only saving grace.

Nitish was the top performer with the bat in the innings, scoring 42 runs off 54 balls. India were bundled out for 180. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the Australian bowlers, registering a career-best six-wicket haul.

Jasprit Bumrah drew first blood for Team India, sending back Usman Khawaja for 35. However, the remaining bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, remained wicketless. Australia were 86/1 at Stumps, trailing India by 94 runs.
