"The wicket was stopping a bit, some were coming on nicely and some weren't"- Ruturaj Gaikwad after helping India reach 234/2 in 2nd T20I vs Zimbabwe
During the mid-innings break, Team India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad reflected on the action that unfolded in the first innings, saying: (via Hindustan Times)
"It was a tough start, yes, first 15 deliveries, I couldn't get the timing going. Immediately I thought, coming in with a good form, it's not like I've not played cricket for a long time, it was still a good wicket to bat on. Me and Abhishek thought, we will stitch some sort of a partnership and went after later."
Ruturaj added:
"Abhishek chose the right bowlers, took on the spinners really well, maintained the shape well. The wicket was stopping a bit, some were coming on nicely and some weren't, in the context of the game, it was a great knock. Stick to hard lengths, typical test match lengths, come and hit top of off. We have the cushion of runs, need to keep it simple."
