"Meri jitni English thi khatam ho gayi hai" - Axar Patel shares hilarious anecdote about teammate from India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph

Team India all-rounder Axar Patel shared a funny story about pacer Mohammed Siraj leaving an interview midway through following the Men in Blue's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Axar recalled how Siraj decided to end the interview since he felt that he had run out of English words.

India beat South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Batting first, the Men in Blue put up 176-7 on the board in their 20 overs. In the chase, Proteas seemed to be cruising at 151-4 after 16 overs. However, India's bowlers made a tremendous comeback to hold South Africa to 169-8.

Recently, Axar, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show and shared their memories of the T20 World Cup triumph. Axar, known for his raw humor, recalled how Siraj was surprised when Dinesh Karthik invited him for an English interview. The 30-year-old told host Kapil (as quoted by The Times of India):

"Siraj told everyone, 'Arre DK bhai ne mera English mein interview le liya. Itne saare log hain, sabko English aati hai. Hum dono ko hi kyu pakda English ke liye, pata nahi' (Dinesk Karthik took our interview in English; all others know English, then why did he catch hold of us I don't know)."

Continuing the funny conversation, Kapil asked the spinner if he gave the interview in English to Karthik. To this, the Gujarat cricketer cheekily replied:

"Haan diya na, mujhe hi nahi pata mai kya bola. Siraj to aadha interview chhod ke bhaag gaya, bola 'meri jitni English thi khatam ho gayi hai' (yes, we did; but even I don't know what I said; Siraj left the interview in between saying that his English vocabulary finished)."

How Axar narrated the entire sequence of events featuring Siraj and he left everyone on the show in splits. There were a number of other funny moments as well witnessed during the comedy show featuring the star cricketers, videos of which have gone viral on social media platforms.
