“Enough is enough” - Harbhajan Singh’s take on Mohammed Siraj vs Travis Head controversy in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test

Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has called for everyone to turn their attention to the third Test in Brisbane instead of being stuck on the verbal spat between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head in Adelaide. With the ICC imposing sanctions on Siraj and Head, the retired cricketer feels it's time to move on.

The ICC, on Monday, issued one demerit point each to Siraj and Head. With Siraj giving a fiery send-off to the Aussie batter after dismissing him in Adelaide, the right-arm pacer also copped a fine of 20% of his match fee. Later, the pair explained their side of the story to the media.

Speaking to Star Sports, Harbhajan said these kinds of incidents keep happening on the field and that the ICC shouldn't be dealing with them too harshly. He elaborated:

"Well, I think ICC is a bit too strict on players. These things happen in the ground. Obviously, forget what has happened and move forward. The players have patched up and talked to each other. Anyways, ICC being ICC has sanctioned the players. Let's put that aside now and let's move forward which is obviously, Brisbane. Let's focus on cricket rather than all these controversies. Enough is enough."

After Day 2 of the Adelaide Test, Head stated that all he had said to Siraj was 'well bowled'. However, the Hyderabad-born cricketer disagreed with Head's statement, claiming that the southpaw lied during the presser and had abused him.

Ex-Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla has agreed with Harbhajan, stating that he wasn't aware of who was right and wrong, but that the events in Adelaide shouldn't be carried over to the remaining Tests. Chawla said (as per the aforementioned source):

"You can't really say who was wrong, who was right here. What I feel is that this should be the end of this thing right now. There's no on this thing to the next match or the fourth test match, and just that what I feel personally is, the things will definitely get heated from the next Test match again, but what incident happened here, should leave it here in Adelaide."

With Australia's comprehensive win at the Adelaide Oval, they leveled the five-Test series 1-1.
