"Even India didn't act this bad to knock out Pakistan"-Top 10 funny memes after Pakistan's thumping loss vs New Zealand in Women's T20 World Cup 2024

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 54 runs in the 19th match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 on Monday (October 14) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. As a result, New Zealand joined Australia as the second team to qualify for the semi-finals from Group A. Pakistan and India will return home after elimination in the group stage.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and opted to bat first in the must-win game. Pakistan spinners, led by Nashra Sandhu (3/18), bowled magnificently and restricted the White Ferns to a low total of 110/6 in 20 overs. Veteran opening batter Suzie Bates top-scored for New Zealand with a sedate knock of 28 (29).

Pakistan had to chase the total within 11 overs to reach the semi-finals. Their batting unit played aggressively from the outset in a bid to reach the target as quickly as possible. The New Zealand players used it to their advantage and picked up wickets at regular intervals with accurate bowling to bundle out the opposition for just 56 in 11.4 overs.

The World Cup contest between the two Group A teams kept the fans engaged with intriguing action. They reacted to Pakistan and India's elimination from the tournament by sharing hilarious memes on social media platforms. Here are some of the best memes:

"Incredibly proud of this group"- New Zealand captain Sophie Devine after win vs Pakistan booked their semifinal berth in ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024

At the post-match presentation, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine reflected on the win and said:

"Incredibly proud of this group. The thing I am most proud of is we have stuck to our processes, knowing that if we do things right, we can beat any team. The youngsters stepped up again for us today. Pakistan were incredibly clever with how they ball. The wicket wasn't that bad but they bowled so well by keeping it slow. We thought 140 would be good at the end of the powerplay but to then just scrap to 110, credit to them."

She continued:

"We knew they were going to have a crack with the NRR making things interesting. It was always going to be about who held their nerve better. We get a day off tomorrow, then it's a couple of days of training. It's about going with open eyes. I just want the girls to lap up the experience. It's going to be a big opportunity. There's going to be pressure, it's going be nerve-wracking. Whoever our opponent is, we'll just go out there and enjoy."

England and West Indies will lock horns in the final group match of the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup on Tuesday (October 15) in Dubai.
