"Fell in love with every part of this beautiful place": Shikhar Dhawan reflects on Nepal Premier League stint

Former Team India opening batter Shikhar Dhawan plied his trade for Karnali Yaks in the ongoing inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League. The southpaw was the only Indian player to feature in the competition.

Dhawan bid adieu to his team after playing their first four matches of the tournament. The seasoned campaigner won't take part in the side's remaining matches of the edition.

Taking to his Instagram account, Dhawan reserved high praise for the people of Nepal and stated that he fell in love with every part of the country. He also shared a video, giving fans a glimpse of his time in Nepal.

Reflecting on his Nepal Premier League stint, the 39-year-old wrote:

"Higher the peaks, the warmer and more grounded the people of Nepal! ❤️ Fell in love with every part of this beautiful place, and its majestic scenery. Can’t wait to return! 🤗."

It is worth mentioning that Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24. However, he continues to play in tournaments like Legends League Cricket and Nepal Premier League.

According to a report from Nepal's Republica, Dhawan had joined the Karnali Yaks with an agreement to play at least four matches. After fulfilling the agreement, he communicated to the team that he wouldn't be able to take part in the remaining games due to knee issues.


Shikhar Dhawan is currently Karnali Yaks' leading run-getter in ongoing Nepal Premier League

Shikhar Dhawan had an ordinary maiden outing for Karnali Yaks, getting out for a run-a-ball 14 in the team's opening fixture against Janakpur Bolts. The left-handed turned back the clock in the subsequent match against Kathmandu Gurkhas, scoring 72 runs from 51 deliveries.

With 136 runs across four matches, Dhawan is the leading run-getter for Karnali Yaks this season. The side are currently placed fourth in the points table, having won three out of their first five matches.

Karnali Yaks will be seen in action on Friday, December 13, when they take on Lumbini Lions in the 22nd match of the Nepal Premier League.
