Full list of B-Love Kandy players for Lanka Premier League 2024 ft. Wanindu Hasaranga and Angelo Matthews
The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League, hosted by the Sri Lanka Cricket, (SLC) is set to commence on Monday, July 1 and conclude on Sunday, July 21. The final will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
B-Love Kandy are the defending champions of the 2023 edition. They finished third in the group stage and advanced to Qualifier 2 after beating Jaffna Kings in the Eliminator.
Following a victory over Jaffna Kings in the Eliminator, they progressed to Qualifier 2. They secured their spot in the final by defeating the Galle Marvels and then clinched their maiden title with a convincing five-wicket win over Dambulla Sixers in the finals.
Wanindu Hasaranga, who led Kandy, won the Player of the Series for his outstanding all-round performance. He mustered 279 runs and also secured 19 wickets with the ball. Hasaranga will lead the side this year as well.
Pavan Rathnayake, who recently featured in the Major Club Limited Over Tournament 2024, can open for Kandy with Andre Fletcher. The middle order will be backed by Kyle Mayers, Sammu Ashan, and Angelo Mathews. Skipper Hasaranga will lead the bowling department with the likes of Kasun Rajitha, Dushmantha Chameera, and Ramesh Mendis.
All-rounder and former Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka is also included in their lineup with Pakistan’s Agha Salman, Chaturanga de Silva, and Kamindu Mendis.
B-Love Kandy will play the season-opener of the Lanka Premier League 2024 against Dambulla Sixers at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
A mix of talented players from both the domestic and international circuits will be aiming to start their LPL campaign on a high note.
