Full list of Barbados Royals players for CPL 2024 ft. Quinton de Kock & Maheesh Theekshana
The 12th season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is scheduled from August 30 to October 7, 2024. The competition will feature six teams, with the Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia King, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, and Saint Lucia Kings vying for the title.
Rovman Powell will once again lead the Barbados Royals after a disappointing performance in the previous season. With three wins and six losses, they finished fifth in the points table. Despite the struggles, Jason Holder stood out as the top wicket-taker with 16 scalps in nine matches, while Rahkeem Cornwall was the highest run-scorer for the team with 193 runs.
The Royals have shown faith in their core group by retaining Powell as the captain along with key players like Holder, Cornwall, Alick Athanaze, Obed McCoy, Ramon Simmonds, Nyeem Young, and Rivaldo Clarke for the upcoming season.
In an effort to strengthen their squad, the Royals have added new overseas talents including the South African trio of Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, and David Miller, as well as Afghan medium-pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, and the Sri Lankan duo of all-rounder Dunith Wellalage and mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana.
However, Barbados Royals have brought in Wellalage and Shamarh Brooks as temporary replacements for the Proteas duo of David Miller and Keshav Maharaj. Both players are expected to miss their first two games as they will be attending the Cricket South Africa (CSA) awards function on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Barbados Royals will take on Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the fourth match of the CPL 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Sunday, September 1.
