Full list of Dambulla Sixers players for Lanka Premier League 2024 ft. Mohammad Nabi and Nuwan Thusara
The Lanka Premier League is back with its fifth edition, scheduled to begin on Monday, July 1, and end on Sunday, July 21.
Dambulla Sixers had an excellent run in the 2023 Lanka Premier League. They finished at the top of the points table with six wins in eight games. Sixers defeated Galle Titans in Qualifier 1 and advanced to the final. However, B-Love Kandy ended their hopes for the maiden cup with a five-wicket win.
Avishka Fernando was the top run-getter for Dambulla while Noor Ahmad finished as their highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets.
This time, Mohammad Nabi-led Dambulla’s batting lineup features Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai, Pakistan’s Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed, and other skilled domestic batters. New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, Towhid Hridoy of Bangladesh, and 2024 T20 World Cup runner-up South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks are some of the hard-hitting overseas batters.
Dushan Hemantha and Danushka Gunathilaka are some of the experienced all-rounders backed by uncapped Rusanda Gamage, Mithun Jayawickrama, and Ayana Siriwardhana.
Afghanistan’s bowling all-rounder Karim Janat, who was the most expensive overseas pick in the auction, was bought by the Sixers. Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman will assist him with the likes of Dilshan Madushanka and Nuwan Thushara’s lethal pace and spin combo of Praveen Jayawickrama and experienced Akila Dananjaya.
The Dambulla Sixers will face B-Love Kandy in their opening match of the 2024 Lanka Premier League at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. With the likes of Afghanistan’s vastly experienced players, they will be looking to avenge their defeat in last year's final and start their journey on a positive note.
