Full list of Saint Lucia Kings players for CPL 2024 ft. Faf du Plessis & Alzarri Joseph
The 12th season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to take place from August 30 to October 7, 2024. Six teams will compete for the championship, including the Saint Lucia Kings, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, and Trinbago Knight Riders.
Under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, the Saint Lucia Kings had a well-balanced run in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League, finishing third with four wins and four losses. However, their journey to the final was cut short when they were defeated by the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Eliminator by five wickets.
Johnson Charles was the top performer with the bat, scoring 238 runs, while Alzarri Joseph led the bowling attack, taking 12 wickets in 10 matches.
Faf du Plessis will continue to captain the Saint Lucia Kings for the upcoming season, joined by new overseas players such as Afghanistan’s skilful spinner Noor Ahmad, Namibian all-rounder David Wiese, and USA’s Aaron Jones. Bhanuka Rajapaksa is the only international player retained from the 2023 squad.
The St Lucia Kings faced a major setback as South Africa’s star wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen withdrew from CPL 2024 due to a family emergency. They have signed New Zealand's Tim Seifert as his replacement.
The team also includes key Windies players like T20I captain Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, Johnson Charles, and Matthew Forde. Additionally, domestic players Khary Pierre, Shadrack Descarte, and Mckenny Clarke have been retained. New local talents Akeem Auguste, Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, and Mikkel Govia have also been signed to strengthen the squad.
Saint Lucia Kings will take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the fifth match of the CPL 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Monday, September 2.
