Full list of South African players in IPL 2025 auction
The BCCI recently confirmed the final player list of the IPL 2025 auction, which will be held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. The initial long list of 1,574 names has been cut down after feedback from franchisees. Five hundred and seventy-four players have been shortlisted to be part of the auction.
From the list of 574 cricketers, 366 are Indian players, while 208 are overseas cricketers (three of them from Associate nations). There are 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players in the final list. Further, 48 capped Indian cricketers and 193 capped overseas players will be part of the much-anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction.
After all 10 franchises confirmed their retention list on October 31, 204 slots are now available to be filled up at the IPL 2025 auction, with 70 slots for overseas cricketers. Players are listed in eight different price brackets, ranging from ₹30 lakh to ₹2 crore.
South African cricketers in IPL 2025 mega auction and their base price
A total of 31 cricketers from South Africa have been shortlisted for the IPL 2025 mega auction. Several Proteas players have registered at the highest base price of ₹2 crore including Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, Faf du Plessis, and Rilee Rossouw, among others.
Rabada was among the many players released by Punjab Kings (PBKS), who retained only two cricketers. Former captain Markram was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while De Kock and Anrich Nortje were part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC), respectively.
Du Plessis led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from 2022 to 2024. The franchise could not end their title drought under him, but he was reasonably impressive both as batter and leader. Du Plessis, though, is 40 now and RCB would be keen to look for younger players at the auction.
Below is the complete list of South African players who have been shortlisted for the IPL 2025 auction.
All 10 franchises have been given a purse of ₹120 crore to build their squads for the IPL 2025 season. Following retentions, Punjab Kings have the highest purse remaining - a whopping ₹110.5 crore. Rajasthan Royals (RR) have the smallest purse of all franchises - ₹41 crore.
