Full list of Sri Lankan players in IPL 2025 auction
The much-awaited IPL 2025 auction is all set to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. A total of 1,574 players from various nations had signed up for the auction. However, following the feedback from franchises, the BCCI has pruned the final list to 574 names.
Looking at the break-up of players, of the 574 cricketers shortlisted, 366 are Indians, while 208 are overseas players, with three from Associate nations. The final list features 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players. Also, there are 48 capped Indian cricketers and 193 capped overseas players who will be part of the auction.
All the franchises confirmed their retentions on October 31 after which 204 slots are up for grabs at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. Of the total of 200-plus slots remaining, 70 are for overseas players. ₹2 crore is the highest base price category for the two-day event, with 81 players listed in this bracket.
Sri Lankan cricketers in IPL 2025 mega auction and their base price
Nineteen players from Sri Lanka have been shortlisted for the IPL 2025 auction. From them, only two have listed the highest base price of ₹2 crore - Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. Hasaranga was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at his base price of ₹1.5 crore at the IPL 2024 auction. He was, however, ruled out of the edition due to chronic heel pain in his left foot.
Theekshana represented the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise from 2022 to 2024. The Lankan off-spinner played five matches in the 2024 season but claimed only two wickets. Overall, he has 25 scalps in the IPL from 27 matches, averaging 31.88 at an economy rate of 7.66.
A majority of Sri Lankan players shortlisted for the auction are part of the ₹75 lakh category. The list includes Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Nuwan Thushara, Jeffery Vandersay, Pathum Nissanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Kamindu Mendis and Dushmantha Chameera.
