"Go have a glass of sparkling water for me to celebrate this!" - Anushka Sharma pens a heartfelt note for Virat Kohli after India win T20 World Cup
Anushka Sharma penned a heartfelt note to her husband, Virat Kohli after Team India lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy on Saturday (June 29). It was an emotional moment for millions of Indian cricket fans and players as the title win came following a long wait of over 11 years.
Virat Kohli endured a lean patch of form in the tournament leading up to the finals, as he could not score a single half-century in seven games. However, he chose the right time to show his class, rising to the occasion in the final against South Africa on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
India found themselves in trouble after being asked to bat first as their top order collapsed to 34/3 in 4.3 overs. Virat Kohli stepped up at this crucial juncture and held the innings together for Men in Blue. His stability at one end helped Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) flourish.
Kohli also changed gears in death overs and reached 76 (59) before perishing in the 19th over. His sensible knock helped India score a decent total of 176/7 in the first innings. It eventually proved to be enough as India went on to win the match by seven runs.
Anushka Sharma took to her official Instagram handle to congratulate her husband Virat Kohli. She wrote:
"AND ….. I love this man ❤️ @virat.kohli . So grateful to call you my home ❤️ - now go have a glass of sparkling water for me to celebrate this! 😉😘."
