"Go take care of your own life" - When Anushka Sharma lashed out at trolls who blamed her for Virat Kohli's failures
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are one of the most popular celebrity couples in India. While both stars have their fair share of fans, they have also been subject to criticism, something that comes along with being a celebrity. While the cricketer's skills were questioned during his lean phase, Anushka was unfairly trolled for Kohli's failures on the cricket field.
Anushka has often been spotted supporting her hubby at international cricket matches and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. While Kohli has often praised his better half, describing Anushka as his support system, there have been instances when some unwanted elements have passed rather nasty remarks on the actor in the wake of the batter being dismissed cheaply.
Speaking to Niranjan Iyenger in an interview on Zee Cafe in 2015, Anushka lashed out at trolls who blamed her for Kohli's low scores. She commented:
"These cricketers, Virat and everyone, they have been playing cricket since they have been eight years old. They don't know anything other than cricket. That's their life and they like to watch all kinds of Bollywood films."
"People saying something like this means what? An international player of that repute doesn't have the ability to take care of his career. And who are you to understand that? Go take care of your own life. Virat went and played a game on the day his father passed away. It was hurtful that you would question [him]. They were saying that he has lost his mind now," Anushka added.
"These people don't know what our lives are. They don't know what we have done. They just have a lot of hatred and they just want to put it out there," the actor-producer went on to add.
Kohli and Anushka were recently spotted attending Krishna Das Kirtan in Mumbai on the occasion of Karwa Chauth.
"I am so grateful that she is my life partner" - When Virat Kohli lavishly praised Anushka Sharma
There have been numerous instances where Kohli has openly acknowledged the role his wife has played in his success and in making him a better person. In a candid chat with Mayank Agarwal back in 2020, he spoke about how lucky he was to have Anushka in his life. The batter said:
"I give her full credit for making me see different sides of things altogether and I am so grateful that she is my life partner because you learn from each other. I was a very close person, I wasn't a very practical person before. So when you see another person and know that your life partner has a different outlook on things, you invariably are challenged to see another point of view."
Kohli and Anushka tied the knot in December 2017. They have two children - a daughter Vamika and a son Akaay.
