“Goat” - Jasprit Bumrah shares picture with former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah took to social media on Sunday, November 10, to share a picture with former South African pacer and World No. 1 Test bowler, Dale Steyn. Bumrah's last appearance was in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, where he took three wickets in the first two games.

He missed the final match due to a viral illness. India had a tough outing in the series, suffering a 3-0 whitewash.

As he enjoys some time away from the game, Bumrah posted a picture with Steyn on Instagram, captioning it:

Steyn, who retired from all forms of the game in 2021, remains South Africa's highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. The 41-year-old played 93 Tests, taking 439 wickets and recording 26 five-wicket hauls.

The right-arm pacer also represented South Africa in 125 ODIs, where he took 196 wickets, and featured in 47 T20Is, picking up 64 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah to return to action in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The 30-year-old pacer is set to return to action when Australia host India in a five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, starting on November 22 in Perth. Following a disappointing series against New Zealand, India must defeat Australia by at least 4-0 to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final on their own.

For India to accomplish this, Bumrah will need to lead the bowling attack. The pacer has played seven matches against Australia, all away from home in the last two Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. In those seven games, he has taken 32 wickets, including one five-wicket haul.

Here’s the 18-member Indian squad for the Test series against Australia: Rohit Sharma (c), Jasprit Bumrah (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar.
