Ravichandran Ashwin starred with the bat in the opening Test between India and Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Day 1 (Thursday, September 19). The right-handed batter took 108 balls to reach his sixth Test ton, first against Bangladesh. It was the second hundred on his home ground.

The 38-year-old walked in when the hosts were struggling at 144-6 and went on to play a match-defining knock. He also has four tons against the West Indies and one versus England.

Fans on X lauded Ravichandran Ashwin for his impactful knock after the top order, including skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli (they scored six runs each), failed to deliver with the bat. One user wrote:
