"Got chance in the team because his father is a known person"- Top 10 funny memes as BCCI announces Team India squads for Sri Lanka tour
`The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Team India squads for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka on Thursday (July 18). The selectors sprung in a couple of surprises for the tour.
They appointed Suryakumar Yadav as the captain of the T20I team ahead of Hardik Pandya following the retirement of Rohit Sharma. Youngster Shubman Gill will be his deputy. It was a shocking decision as Hardik was vice-captain during the 2024 T20 World Cup and was a heavy favorite to take over the mantle after Rohit bid adieu to the format.
Rohit Sharma will continue as captain in ODIs during the tour. Veteran batter Virat Kohli has also been included in the squad. Shreyas Iyer, who lost his central contract earlier this year, also retained his place in the 50-over format following his sensational performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Rishabh Pant also made his comeback and will handle the wicket-keeper's role along with KL Rahul.
Fans were disappointed that the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, and a few other promising players missed out. They took to social media platforms to express their reactions by sharing hilarious memes.
