"Grateful and Blessed" - Throwback to Virat Kohli's tweet on completing 7 years in International Cricket
A 2015 tweet from Virat Kohli is currently doing the rounds on the internet. The star batter made his international debut on this day, August 18, in 2008 against Sri Lanka.
Since then, Kohli has not looked back and has gone on to reach unprecedented heights across formats. The 35-year-old has scored the most number of hundreds (50) in One Day Internationals. With 80 international hundreds to his name, he is currently second on the list of most hundreds by a batter behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (100).
Kohli has also captained Team India, with his captaincy tenure lasting seven years. Back in 2015 when India toured Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series, Kohli took to Twitter (now X) expressing gratitude for completing seven years in International cricket. He tweeted:
"From 18-8-2008 Dambulla to 18-8-2015 Colombo, 7 years! And this is just the beginning. Grateful and Blessed."
Virat Kohli will be in action for Team India in the Test series against Bangladesh
Virat Kohli was last seen in action against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded three-match ODI series. He had a poor run by his lofty standards, scoring 58 runs across the three matches.
The former Team India skipper recently hung up his boots in the shortest format of the game. He scored 76 off 59 balls in his last match, the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, to help the Men In Blue clinch the trophy for the second time. Along with him, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja also bid adieu to the format.
Virat Kohli has been rested for the upcoming Duleep Trophy and will next be seen in action in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test will be played from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, while the second Test will start on September 27 at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
