"Great bowler, even greater booty" - Jasprit Bumrah receives special praise after bowling heroics on Day 1 of 1st BGT 2024-25 Test

Team India's stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah received a special compliment from his wife Sanjana Ganesan after his brilliant bowling performance on Day 1 of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth on Friday, November 22. Sanjana shared a cheeky Instagram story to appreciate her hubby's efforts.

Batting first after winning the toss, India were bowled out for 150 in 49.4 overs. The visitors, however, made an excellent comeback, led by skipper Bumrah, to reduce Australia to 67-7 by stumps. The right-arm pacer claimed 4-17 in 10 overs, which included the scalps of Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith and Nathan McSweeney.

Reacting to Bumrah's sensational bowling effort, Sanjana shared an Instagram story of the fast bowler celebrating one of his wickets. The sports presenter shared the post with a tongue-in-cheek caption, which read:

While the Indian captain picked up three wickets in his first spell, he came back to dismiss his opposite number Pat Cummins (3) towards the end of the day's play. Fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with two wickets, while debutant Harshit Rana knocked over Travis Head for 11.

"There's something in that release point" - Mitchell Starc on Jasprit Bumrah's success

Speaking at the press conference following the opening day's play in Perth, Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc was asked about Bumrah's amazing success across formats.

He opined that the Indian fast bowler has a unique release point and does a lot of things with his action that others can't do.

“Maybe, he's obviously got a fair bit of hyperextension in, that elbow and does, things, a lot of actions, one that you do. So, there's no surprise that he's been a fantastic bowler across the formats for a long time. And again, his skills were on show today as to how, how good he is," Starc said.
"So, yeah, I'm sure there's something in that release point. That’s significant to his action. It's something a lot of people can't do, so I'm not, I'm certainly not going to go and try it. I’ll probably snap,” he added.

Starc was unbeaten on 6 at stumps on Day 1, with keeper-batter Alex Carey (19*) for company. Australia will resume Day 2 in Perth trailing India by 83 runs, with three wickets in hand.
