"Great goggles" - Jos Buttler compliments Kumar Sangakkara for choice of eyewear in ENG vs SL 2024 2nd Test

England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler has given a big thumbs up to former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara's choice of eyewear during the second Test at Lord's. Sangakkara is part of the Sky Sports broadcasting team for the three-match Test series between England and Sri Lanka. He was seen wearing a pair of stylish sunglasses on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test.

Wicketkeeper-batter Buttler shared a picture of Sangakkara on his Instagram story and wrote:

"Great goggles."

Kumar Sangakkara and Jos Buttler have worked together closely in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Buttler has been part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) side since 2018 while Sangakkara has been associated with the franchise since 2021 as the director of cricket.

Rajasthan qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2024, finishing third on the points table after the league stage. However, their campaign ended with a 36-run loss to the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2.


"So much to like and admire"- Kumar Sangakkara on Kamindu Mendis

Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis was the lone warrior for the team in their first innings of the ongoing Lord's Test against England. The southpaw played a gutsy 74-run knock as the side were bundled out for 196.

Mendis earned appreciation from one of the greatest left-handed batters of the game, Kumar Sangakkara. Reacting to the 25-year-old's batting exploits, Sangakkara wrote on the microblogging platform X:

"So much to like and admire about the batting of Kamindu Mendis."

Kamindu Mendis is off to a stunning start to his Test career. He has aggregated 625 runs across eight innings at an awe-inspiring average of 89.57. The youngster has registered scores of 61, 102, 164, 92*, 9, 12, 113, and 74, so far in the format.

Meanwhile, England finished 25/1 at stumps on Day 2. They have a lead of 256 runs, thanks to their 427-run total in the first innings. England clinched a five-wicket win in the series opener and lead the three-match series 1-0.
