"The plan was simple as the wicket was stopping a bit" - Indian spinner Axar Patel after his spell vs England in 2024 T20 World Cup semis
Axar Patel received the Player of the Match award for his all-round contributions against England. Shedding light on his strategy during the match-defining spell against England, Axar said:
"Bowled in the past in the powerplay, the plan was simple as the wicket was stopping a bit, bowled in the good areas, didn't try too many things. Wicket is slow, if I bowled quicker, it would've been easier for the batters, so I bowled slower, which worked for me."
"Our batters told us that it's not easy to hit, it was skidding and keeping low, 170 was always big. (About Rohit and SKY's partnership) That partnership was magnificent, 150 - 160 we thought was a good total and they rotated the strike well with odd boundaries. Not thinking about Barbados now," he added.
India will lock horns with South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29.
