"Hangover utarna nhi chahiye " - Mohammed Siraj reacts as Axar Patel shares pictures with 2024 T20 World Cup medal
On Friday, July 12, Team India's Axar Patel shared pictures of him posing with the 2024 T20 World Cup winners' medal on his official Instagram handle. The all-rounder was one of the standout performers in the Men in Blue's title-winning campaign.
Axar was seen biting the medal, an iconic pose used by several athletes. The post received a big thumbs-up from the Indian fans and was flooded with likes and comments.
Reacting to the left-arm spinner's post, his teammate Mohammed Siraj commented that the hangover shouldn't end. The pacer wrote:
"Hangover utarna nhi chahiye (hangover shouldn't end)."
Axar replied to the comment by hilariously suggesting that he shared the pictures to remind Siraj about the hangover. He wrote:
"Isiliye tujhe yaad dilaneke liye pic daala hai (I posted the pictures so that you don't forget about it)."
Axar Patel was promoted to the No. 5 spot in India's batting order after the side lost three early wickets in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa. The southpaw shone under pressure, playing a clutch 47-run knock before being run out.
India were 34/4 in 4.3 overs when Axar walked out to bat. He steered the ship out of choppy waters for his team, stitching together a crucial 72-run partnership with Virat Kohli. The stand helped the team register 176/7 in 20 overs.
The Rohit Sharma-led side ultimately clinched a thrilling seven-run victory, courtesy of brilliant death bowling by Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh.
"We are still mentally in Barbados" - Axar Patel on the joy of winning the 2024 T20 World Cup
Axar Patel recently stated that he was still over the moon days after India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. The 30-year-old mentioned that he has had conversations with Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj and suggested that they are still mentally in Barbados.
Speaking about the experience of being part of a World Cup-winning team, here's what Axar said during an interview with Times Now:
"I'm still living the dream. I talk to Rishabh and Siraj and we are still mentally in Barbados. It has to be the most unreal experience in cricket for me. There have been many other experiences but this compares to nothing. The memory of winning the World Cup is always going to be on top for me."
Axar Patel scored 92 runs across five innings and picked up nine wickets from eight outings at an economy rate of 7.86 at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
