Harry Brook replaces Yashasvi Jaiswal as No. 2 in latest ICC Test rankings for batters
England batter Harry Brook has replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal as the new No. 2 in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) men's Test ratings for batters released on Wednesday, December 4. Brook reached his career-best ratings (854) after scoring 171 runs against New Zealand in the first Test in Christchurch, where England won by eight wickets. Jaiswal, on the other hand, dropped to fourth.
Former England skipper Joe Root and erstwhile Kiwi captain Kane Williamson retained their first and third spots, respectively.
South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma broke into the top 10. The right-handed batter gained 11 spots to get to 10th place following his knocks of 70 and 113 against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Durban, where the Proteas won by 233 runs.
Other notable movers were Ollie Pope (up eight places to 32nd), Ben Stokes (rose seven spots to 34th), Dinesh Chandimal (surged two places to 17th), and Tristan Stubbs (jumped 29 rungs to 42nd).

India vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah has consolidated his No.1 spot in the latest ICC men's Test rankings for bowlers. That came after he bagged eight wickets, including a fifer against Australia in the first Test held in Perth, where the tourists secured a 295-run win. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin (fourth) and Ravindra Jadeja (sixth) are the other two Indians in the top 10.
South Africa pacer Marco Jansen saw a staggering rise to gain career-best ratings of 774. The Proteas pacer rose 19 spots to ninth after 11 wickets in the series opener against Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old also surged 10 places to second in the latest ICC men's Test rankings for all-rounders. He replaced Ravichandran Ashwin for the second place.
Other key movements among bowlers were Vishwa Fernando (rose four spots to 29th), Brydon Carse (up 21 places to 43rd), and Shoaib Bashir (jumped four rungs to 48th). Notably, Ravindra Jadeja consolidated his No.1 spot among all-rounders.
There were also some movements in the latest ICC men's ODI and T20I rankings owing to the series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Saim Ayub gained 12 places to 78th and 39 spots to 119 in ODIs and T20Is, respectively. Meanwhile, Abbas Afridi surged 20 spots to 61st while Sikandar Raza improved six spots to 40th among T20I and ODI bowlers, respectively.
