Haryana batter Yashvardhan Dalal clobbers 428* off 465 balls to break record for highest individual score in Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy

Haryana opener Yashvardhan Dalal smashed a quadruple century in a Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy match against Mumbai on Saturday, November 9, at Gurugram Cricket Ground in Sultanpur, Haryana. With his knock of 428* off 465 balls, the youngster registered the highest-ever individual score in the tournament, surpassing UP's Sameer Rizvi, who had slammed 312 in the previous edition.

Yashvardhan smacked 46 fours and 12 sixes as Haryana completely dominated Day 2 of the contest. As per a report in Sportstar, Mumbai opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the game, a move that backfired massively. The Haryana opening pair of Yashvardhan and Arsh Ranga featured in a massive 410-run stand as both batters eased to their respective hundreds in the process.

Ranga was dismissed for 151 off the bowling of Atharva Bhosale. Yashvardhan, however, continued to attack Mumbai's bowlers as Haryana went to stumps on Day 2 of the contest at 732-8.

For Mumbai, Bhosale claimed a five-fer in 58 overs. It remains to be seen how many more runs Yashvardhan can add to his already record-breaking score of 426* on Day 3 against Mumbai.


Yashvardhan Dalal: A young talent to watch out for

As per a report in the news agency ANI, the Jhajjar-born opener grabbed headlines in December 2021 as well. In a U-16 league match, he scored 237 runs as Haryana Cricket Academy posted 452-5 in 40 overs. They went on to win the contest by 368 runs.

Speaking of the ongoing Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy, Haryana are playing their third match in the U-23 tournament. They drew their opening match against Madhya Pradesh before suffering a nine-wicket loss to Jharkhand in their second match. Yashvardhan had scored four against Madhya Pradesh and was dismissed for 23 and 67 in the game against Jharkhand.
