"He's come out then and said it was a little bit of a misunderstanding" - Head and Siraj settle their differences following 2nd BGT 2024-25 TestÂ
Australia batter Travis Head has revealed that India pacer Mohammed Siraj took the initiative to settle their differences by setting aside their incident as a misunderstanding. The pair were involved in a heated moment after Head was dismissed for 140 by a yorker by the right-arm bowler on Day 2 of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval.
A pumped-up Siraj issued a verbal assault and a send-off while Head also responded with words of his own while walking off. In the press conference after the day's play, the explosive batter had expressed his disappointment in the manner with which Siraj had conducted himself.
In reply, before play began on Day 3, Siraj defended his actions, and claimed that Head was lying about the altercation. The pacer felt that he was abused, and responded accordingly.
The pair shared a moment on the field when Siraj came out to bat, with Head stationed at short leg. The tail-ender's dismissal also resulted in his nemesis taking the catch of all people.
The matter was seemingly put to an end after the duo were spotted sharing a hug after the contest ended. Head emphasized that he prefers to leave the saga behind after an intense set of days.
"He's come out then and said it was a little bit of a misunderstanding. I think we will move on, we've had a great week, so let's not ruin it. I'm sweet, and I think he's the same, and we move on," Head told ABC Sports after the second Test came to a conclusion.
The pair will next come face-to-face in the third Test of the series at The Gabba in Brisbane. With the series level at 1-1, the upcoming clash is scheduled to begin from Saturday, December 14 onwards.
"It's a good dressing room to be in, it's a tight one, most people might suggest otherwise" - Travis Head
The left-handed batter was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant 140-run knock off 141 deliveries. His counter-attack completely swayed the game in favor of Australia after Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney had laid down the early platform.
"Nice to get some runs again. I felt like I moved well last week, I felt like I am in good form. It's a good dressing room to be in, it's a tight one, most people might suggest otherwise. Putting a good performance in, nothing was ever guaranteed, nice momentum and now we have to move on with it," Head said during the post-match presentation.
The win in Adelaide also extended Australia's unbeaten run at the venue when it came to pink ball matches.
