"He has scored a lot of runs at Wankhede and against Mumbai" - Aakash Chopra picks KL Rahul among LSG players to watch out for in IPL 2024 clash vs MI
Aakash Chopra has picked Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul among their players to watch out for in their IPL 2024 clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Mumbai on Friday, May 17. He pointed out that the right-handed opener has an excellent record at the Wankhede Stadium and against MI.
With 12 points from 13 games, LSG are seventh on the points table. They are knocked out of the playoff race and will want to finish their campaign with a win.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra picked Rahul as the first Lucknow Super Giants player in focus in Friday's game.
"Let's focus on KL Rahul. I don't think he will rest himself, he is the captain. He has scored a lot of runs at Wankhede and against Mumbai. So this is his favorite team. It's also like a broken record whenever I talk about Lucknow that he is the only Indian batter scoring runs," he reasoned (15:50).
"So it's the same story although this hasn't been the season KL Rahul usually has. He generally has a 600-run season and he is very far from 600 currently. He might not be able to reach there. KL Rahul will be my first player to watch out for," the former India opener added.
Rahul has amassed 465 runs at a strike rate of 136.36 in 13 innings in IPL 2024. He scored a 22-ball 28 in LSG's home game against MI and will hope to play a more substantial knock in his last outing this season.
"If he gets going, then there is no stopping" - Aakash Chopra on LSG's Nicholas Pooran
Aakash Chopra chose Nicholas Pooran as the second Lucknow Super Giants player to watch out for against the Mumbai Indians.
"My second player will be Nicholas Pooran because, on this small ground, Nicholas Pooran can do the job you expect him to do, like he was doing in the last match. When he came to bat, it seemed like he wanted to hit a six off every ball. However, he scored runs in the end. If he gets going, then there is no stopping," he said (16:35).
The reputed commentator picked Mohsin Khan as the LSG bowler he is eager to watch.
"The third player is Mohsin Khan. He has pace and bounce, and this pitch has help for fast bowlers. If I remember correctly, he was part of Mumbai earlier. Then he remained injured, Mumbai left him, and he went to Lucknow. I am expecting him to play and actually do well," Chopra elaborated.
Mohsin has picked up nine wickets at an economy rate of 10.00 in 34 overs in IPL 2024. Only Naveen-ul-Haq (12) and Yash Thakur (11) have taken more wickets for LSG this season.
