"His legacy continues to inspire and guide us" - Rishabh Pant shares heartfelt note on death anniversary of childhood coach
Team India's keeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a heartfelt note on the third death anniversary of his childhood coach Tarak Sinha. The veteran coach ran the Sonnet Cricket Club in Delhi. He passed away on November 6, 2021, due to lung cancer.
On the veteran coach's death anniversary, Pant posted a note on his Instagram story. Mentioning that Sinha's legacy continues to be an inspiration for him, the 27-year-old wrote:
"It's been three years since our sir Mr Tarak Sinha left us, yet his presence feels as strong as ever. The time without him has stretched long, filled with memories of his wisdom, guidance, and the warmth he brought into our lives. His legacy continues to inspire and guide us. Thank you sir."
It is worth mentioning that apart from Pant, Tarak Sinha had also coached the likes of Ishan Kishan, Aakash Chopra, Shikhar Dhawan, Ashish Nehra, Anjum Chopra, Atul Wassan and Manoj Prabhakar.
Rishabh Pant was India's best batter in the home Test series against New Zealand
Rishabh Pant was last seen in action during India's recently concluded three-match home Test series against New Zealand. The hosts failed to win a single match in the series, suffering their first-ever whitewash in a three-match Test series at home.
Amid India's dismal run, Pant emerged as a silver lining with his impressive batting exploits. The southpaw was the leading run-getter of the rubber, chalking up 261 runs across six innings at an average of 43.50.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian side will now tour Australia for a five-match Test series. The two cricketing giants will compete for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Pant is expected to play a crucial role for India, who now need to win the series 4-0 to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC 2023-25) final on their own. The much anticipated series kicks off at Perth on November 22.
