How much prize money will 2024 T20 World Cup winners and runners-up get?
India and South Africa will compete in the all-important 2024 T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29. The summit clash kicks off at 8:00 PM (IST).
Both India and South Africa have enjoyed a stunning run in the ongoing showpiece event and will enter the final as unbeaten. Given the form of the two sides, the ultimate showdown of the ICC event is set to enthral the viewers.
Several fans must be wondering about the prizes the winners and runners-up will get at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Apart from the coveted trophy and bragging rights, the winning team is also set to take home a whopping $2.45 million (approximately ₹20.42 crore).
It is worth mentioning that the 2024 T20 World Cup winner will get the highest prize money in the history of the tournament. The runners-up, on the other hand, will receive a prize money of $1.28 million (approximately ₹10.67 crore).
England and Afghanistan will collect $787,500 each for making it the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinals
The total prize money set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the ongoing T20 World Cup totals up to $11.25 million (approximately ₹93.80 crore). Afghanistan and England, who suffered heartbreaking losses in their respective semifinals, will be rewarded $787,500 (approximately ₹6.56 crore) each.
Australia, Bangladesh, West Indies, and the United States of America, who made it to the Super 8 round of the 2024 T20 World Cup but failed to book a spot in the semifinals will collect $382,500 (approximately ₹3.18 crore) each.
The team which didn't qualify for the Super 8 and secured a finish between the ninth and 12th spot will get $247,500 (approximately ₹2.06 crore), while the ones who finished between 13th and 20th place will receive $225,500 (approximately ₹1.87 crore) each.
All the participating teams will also get an additional sum of $31,154 (approximately ₹26 lakh) for every victory barring the semifinal an final.
