How much prize money will the winners, runners-up & other teams get after AUS vs SA 2025 WTC final?
Australia and South Africa will face off in the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final, starting at Lord's on June 11. This will be Australia's second consecutive appearance in the summit clash, having played and beaten India by 209 runs at The Oval in 2023.
The winners of the 2025 WTC final will get $3,600,000 million (₹30.78 crore) while the runners-up will get $2,160,000 million (Rs 18.46 crore) this time. The winner's prize money for the 2025 WTC final will be almost two times more than what the inaugural champions New Zealand received in 2021 and Australia received in 2023.
Both New Zealand and Australia received $1,600,000 million each in 2021 and 2023, respectively, while runners-up India received $800,000 in both those editions. India, who finished third on the 2023-25 WTC table, will get $1,440,00, which is approximately ₹12.31 crore.
"The increase in prize money exhibits the ICC’s efforts to prioritise Test cricket as it looks to build on the momentum of the first three cycles of the nine-team competition," the ICC said.
Australia aim to make it two title wins in a row, South Africa look to end long drought
The Pat Cummins-led Australia became the first team to win every ICC event across all three formats when they defeated India in the WTC final in 2023. They will look to regain the mace when they face South Africa in the 2025 final, starting on Wednesday, June 11.
South Africa will be looking to break a 27-year drought for a major global title, by lifting the mace after what promises to be a mouthwatering few days of cricket in London. The Proteas last won a global tournament in 1998, when the late Hansie Cronje led his side to the ICC Knockout Trophy win in Bangladesh.
This will also be the third consecutive time the WTC final will be played in England, with Southampton and The Oval playing host in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
