"Humare 17.5 cr"- Top 10 funny memes as MI beat SRH convincingly to keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) comfortably by eight wickets in the 69th match of IPL 2023 on Sunday, May 21, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
After being asked to bat first, SRH notched up a massive total of 200/5 in 20 overs. Openers Mayank Agarwal (83) and Vivrant Sharma (69) starred for them in their final league game. Akash Madhwal bowled superbly in the death overs for MI and ended up with four wickets.
During the chase, Ishan Kishan (14) hit a four and six and then perished in the third over. Cameron Green joined Rohit Sharma at the crease at 20/1 and changed the complexion of the chase.
He played aggressively from the outset and injected momentum into the innings as Rohit Sharma took some time initially to get going. Rohit also picked up pace gradually as the duo smashed SRH bowlers all over the park. They put on a 128-run partnership for the second wicket.
Mayank Dagar dismissed Rohit Sharma in the 14th over to give SRH their second breakthrough. However, MI were already in the driver's seat in the contest by then. Cameron Green continued in the same vein and hit his maiden T20 century to take MI home in 18 overs. Suryakumar Yadav (25*) gave him company in the end with a cameo.
Reflecting on their disappointing run in IPL 2023 after the match, SRH captain Aiden Markram said:
"Ultimately not the campaign we would have hoped for at the start. Decent effort today with the bat. Everyone knows that at this venue and against this opposition you need to get a bit more than 200. Unfortunately ended up on the wrong side today. It's been a great challenge. Obviously a lot of learning along the way. We've got a great group of guys and they do give their best."
He continued:
"We're a team that is slightly on the younger side but we're a great bunch going around. If things don't go well obviously it's under the microscope but it's been a great learning curve. Someone like Klassy, Bhuvi - really happy for how they've played throughout this season. Some positives from the season and hopefully we can pick up from there next season."
