“I even messaged Virat that his chefs are very good” - When Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli praised each other’s restaurant food

Suresh Raina recently revealed his experience of dining in former Team India teammate Virat Kohli's restaurant One8 Commune. Raina mentioned that he had a wonderful experience at the eatery.

The cricketer-turned-commentator stated that he texted Kohli to praise the chef and food of his restaurant. Interestingly, Raina has also launched his own culinary venture.

The 38-year-old owns an Indian restaurant in Amsterdam, Netherlands, named after Raina. He mentioned that Kohli had visited the restaurant and praised the food.

Speaking in an interview with News24, Raina said:

"I went to Mumbai and I even messaged Virat that his chefs are very good and he has a separate vegan menu and he is super fit. He said ‘I hope you like it’. He also came to Holland, he also sent a message for my restaurant. I think he liked the food very much. He is a friend, we played together for so many years."

It is worth mentioning that Virat Kohli's One8 Commune has outlets in several cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad.


"We went for steamed food" - When a chef shared details of Virat Kohli's diet

Virat Kohli's dietary habits changed drastically as he put fitness at the forefront following the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League. The star cricketer follows a strict diet, consisting of mostly steamed food.

During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Anushman Bali, executive chef at Leela Palace, shared details of Kohli's diet. Here's what he disclosed during a chat with the Times of India:

"Virat doesn't eat meat and so we went for steamed foods, like vegetarian dim sums, and other vegetable-based proteins, like soya, mock meats, and lean proteins, like tofu for him. We include as little dairy as possible in his meals."

Virat Kohli showcased stellar form at the 2023 ODI World Cup. He was the leading run-getter at the showpiece event, chalking up 765 runs across 11 innings. India finished as the runners-up of the edition following a heartbreaking six-wicket loss to Australia in the final.
