“I did Google it” - Sundar Pichai hails Jasprit Bumrah’s batting effort at The Gabba; Elon Musk shares a one-word comment
Jasprit Bumrah has been among India's key performers in the ongoing third Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at The Gabba. Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai seems to be following the action with a keen interest as well.
A user posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter) of Jasprit Bumrah answering a question about his batting abilities during the ongoing Gabba Test. Bumrah cheekily responded by asking the reporter to Google which batter has the most runs in a single over in Test cricket.
Bumrah holds the record for most runs scored in a Test over, having smacked Stuart Broad for 35 runs in 2022.
Interestingly, Sundar Pichai replied to the tweet, stating that he did Google it. Pichai also wrote in his reply that anyone who can hook Pat Cummins for a six knows how to bat. He referred to the moment when Jasprit Bumrah pulled Cummins for a huge six on day four (December 17) during the 68th over of India's innings.
Pichai also hailed Bumrah's effort with the bat as he, along with Akash Deep, helped the visitors avoid the follow-on heading into the final day of the Test.
"I did Google it:) anyone who can hook Cummins for a six knows how to bat! Well done @Jaspritbumrah93 saving the follow on with Deep!," read Sundar's tweet.
More interestingly, the CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk replied to Pichai's tweet with a one-word comment - "Nice".
Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah help India avoid follow-on
Australia scored 445 runs in their first innings and then reduced India to 213/9 as the visitors were on the verge of being subjected to a follow-on on day four of the ongoing third BGT 2024-25 Test.
India had to get to the 246-run mark to avoid the follow-on with just one wicket left in hand. Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep joined forces to stitch a crucial unbeaten 39-run stand for the final wicket, helping India end the day at 252/9 and avoid the follow-on in the process.
Bumrah remained unbeaten on 10 while Deep remained unbeaten on 27, scoring a couple of boundaries and a six as well.
