"I have got to hit every ball for six now"- Virat Kohli & Will Jacks' hilarious banter after RCB's thumping IPL 2024 win over GT
Virat Kohli and Will Jacks' splendid partnership of 166* for the second wicket helped the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) blow the Gujarat Titans (GT) away in their IPL 2024 encounter in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28.
The duo didn't let the required run rate get out of hand and Jacks in particular went berserk after reaching his half-century. He scored a hundred off just 41 balls, while Kohli remained unbeaten on 70*(44).
Virat Kohli miscued a big shot and got a single on the first ball off Rashid Khan in the 16th over. Will Jacks then smashed a four and four sixes in the remaining five deliveries to get to his hundred and also take RCB over the line.
In a video posted by RCB, Virat Kohli was seen engaging in banter with Will Jacks. Kohli cheekily claimed that since Jacks was tired of running hard between the wickets, he decided to finish the game with big shots. Here's what Kohli said:
"He called for two, and when he looked back I was ready for three. And he decided 'I have got to hit every ball for six now because I am not running every ball' (laughs)"

In the video, Will Jacks was also seen receiving a thunderous round of applause from the RCB support staff as well as some of his teammates as he made his way into the dressing room.
Will Jacks reflects on batting with Virat Kohli
Speaking in the post-match presentation, Will Jacks opened up on the struggle early on in his innings and how the one six off Mohit Sharma got him going. He also shed light on the constant chat that he had with Virat Kohli and here's what he stated:
"I was probably trying to overhit a ball a bit. After I got one off Mohit, I just relaxed and trusted myself. To spend some time in the middle (with Kohli) is a huge learning curve. When I go away from the IPL, I would have learnt so much from batting with him and playing with him."
After losing seven of their first eight games, RCB have registered back-to-back wins and that will certainly give their fans something to cheer about in what has been a rather tough season.
