"I just told them, 'When you come to bowl in the middle-overs, just bowl death'" - David Warner's unique tactic that helped SRH win IPL 2016

David Warner is one of only three foreign captains to have won the IPL till date and he achieved the feat with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the IPL 2016 season.

There's no secret to the fact that teams with solid bowling attacks win tournaments and Warner had built exactly that at SRH. The former SRH skipper recently spoke about how he planned with the bowlers to bowl more dot balls and force the opposition to play false shots.

On the show, 'Breakfast with Champions', here's what David Warner had to say about SRH's bowling attack during IPL 2016:

"I just loved my time. That season (2016) everything had to go to plan, we had to win our last four games to win that (title) and play as well as we could. I gave responsibility to the bowlers and each one was responsible for their 24 deliveries.
"I just told them, 'When you come to bowl in the middle-overs, just bowl death.' That's the hardest way to hit the bowlers and that's how we created pressure through dot balls. The execution was up to the bowlers and we had a great bowling attack."

We knew exactly what we would get: David Warner on Hyderabad pitch

David Warner feels one of the main reasons why SRH did well in IPL 2016 was because they played well at their home ground and knew exactly what to expect from the pitch and conditions. He also credited the curator for preparing pitches that would suit their batters as well as bowlers.

On this, Warner stated:

"I just love that pitch (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium) because the curator there is one of the best guys. He would just rock up and tell me, 'Warner, hundred for you.'
"We knew exactly what we would get in the seven games we played there. Fantastic pitch for both bat and ball. And if we got 170+ runs, we would win the game."

David Warner's legacy at SRH is so big that even today the fans and the crowd in Hyderabad love him.
