"I just want to shut down the noise" - Ravichandran Ashwin feels most people in the cricket fraternity are jealous of India
Ravichandran Ashwin has urged the members of the cricket fraternity to stop commenting on Indian cricket just to gain traction on social media. The veteran off-spinner suggested that most people in world cricket are jealous of India.
Ashwin highlighted that certain experts and journalists don't leave a single chance to target India. Ashwin opined that this behavior stems from jealousy. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the crafty bowler remarked:
"I just want to shut down the noise. I have seen it all over the world. 101 out of 100 people in the world of cricket are jealous of India. They are jealous. So, every chance they get to have a target, they do. I have seen on social media that if you talk about Indian players or superstars, you will get a lot of traction."
British sports journalist Lawrence Booth recently made a post on X, where he reckoned that Virat Kohli didn't deserve to be in the Men in Blue's T20I team. Ashwin indicated that Lawence's comments were to promote his new book.
Speaking about how Indians should not let the West set a narrative, he said:
"I think he has recently written a book on Bazball. I think that's why they are doing this. We should be proud of our country. We should have pride. 100 years ago, they used to set the narrative for us. We shouldn't allow it anymore."
During the discussion, Ravichandran Ashwin and Robin Uthappa claimed that Virat Kohli would be fired up after Booth's tweet.
"Someone should take this and show it to Virat" - Ravichandran Ashwin on Lawrence Booth's tweet
Ravichandran Ashwin stated that Virat Kohli needs to see Lawrence Booth's tweet on him. Here's what the journalist wrote on X about the ace batter:
"As long as Bumrah stays fit, India are in this World Cup. Still not convinced Virat Kohli is worth his place, mind you."
Robin Uthapa chimed in that Indian supporters should thank Booth, as his comments will result in Kohli roaring back to form. He said:
"There is no need to show. He is going to see it. We should thank Lawrence Booth. He is going to see this. He is going to see this 100%. He is going to hit runs 100% after seeing this."
Kohli has performed underwhelmingly with the bat in the ongoing showpiece event. He has scored just 29 runs from four games. India will now face Bangladesh in their second match of the Super 8 round. The game will be played in Antigua on Saturday, June 22.
