"I kept looking for her during the match but couldn't see her" - Harbhajan Singh shares funny story about wife Geeta Basra

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra are one of the most famous cricket-Bollywood couples in the country. The two tied the knot in Jalandhar, Punjab, on October 29, 2015.

Harbhajan recently recalled a funny incident about his wife. He stated that Geeta had asked him for two Indian Premier League (IPL) match tickets. The cricket star mentioned that he was trying to woo his now better half at the time and arranged very good seats to impress her.

The 44-year-old mentioned that Geeta didn't turn up for the match and instead gave the tickets to someone else. Revealing that he kept looking at the stands to see if the actress had come to watch him play, here's what Harbhajan said on Bollywood choreographer-director Farah Khan's YouTube channel:

"During the IPL, she messaged me to ask for two tickets. I thought she would come to watch the match. So, I arranged two tickets for her. I kept looking for her during the match but couldn't see her in the stands. Who came to watch the match? The boy who drove her car."

Harbhajan also shared details of his first-ever text message to Geeta. He recollected that it was after India's 2007 T20 World Cup triumph. Revealing Geeta's reply to his invitation for a date, he said:

"We had come home after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup. We had the whole world at our feet. So, I left a random message that I would like to have tea with you. I didn't know what to write in English at first. She messaged me, 'We are very proud of you. God bless you.'"

Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra became parents for the first time on July 27, 2016, with the birth of their baby girl. They were blessed with a baby boy on July 10, 2021.

"I was like, 'Who is this?'" - Harbhajan Singh on looking at the poster of Geeta Basra's Bollywood movie 'The Train'

During the aforementioned YouTube show, Harbhajan Singh stated that the first time he saw Geeta Basra was in the poster of her film 'The Train'. He admitted that he was smitten by her and asked his close friend Yuvraj Singh to inquire about her.

Harbhajan said:

"I had seen the poster of The Train. I was going to catch a train in the morning and I saw the poster of the film. I was like, 'Who is this'. I went to the United Kingdom for county after that. Yuvraj Singh visited me there. Yuvi has very good connections in Bollywood so I asked him who's the actor in The Train film, she looks very good. He got some information about her after speaking to a few people. That's how it started."

During the conversation, Geeta chimed in to reveal that she ignored Harbhajan's text messages initially, stating:

"He was trying to reach out to me. I didn't even reply to his message."

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh retired from all forms of the game in 2021. The ace off-spinner bagged 707 wickets across formats in international cricket, the third-most by an Indian.
