"I love my dosas" - Morne Morkel opens up on his favorite Indian food

South African speedster Morne Morkel, recently appointed Men in Blue's bowling coach, has opened up on his favorite Indian food. Morkel, who was part of the Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) support staff group in the Indian Premier League (IPL), joined the Indian team after Gautam Gambhir was appointed head coach.

In an interview with bcci.tv after his first day at training with the Indian cricketers, Morkel spoke about his love for dosas, labeling it his favorite food.

"I like a bit of puri," Morkel said. "Breakfast, obviously I love my dosas. Milk, malai, chicken, naan breads. But yeah, I think it's also important as a coach that you need to show that you eat healthy and, you know, the rest of the players will follow that."

"We're ready to take up this challenge" - Morne Morkel ahead of Bangladesh series

Morkel is ready for his first assignment as Indian men's bowling coach, which will be the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. It will start on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Morkel, aware of the challenges regarding the Indian team, is looking forward to the challenge.

"You know, it's one thing, having the talent and having the skill, but, you know, how can you make those guys feel welcome in an intimidating sort of environment?" the South African said in the same interview. "You know, India playing in India, playing wearing the blue shirt, there's a lot of expectations."
"So for me, having that experience and going through that, passing on that sort of knowledge and helping them to settle and also feel at home because I think as soon as a player, you know, have that accountability of they belong and they feel comfortable in the space, the performances will come. So it's about looking after that and, you know, from there obviously upskill and get them up to the standard. We're ready, you know, to take up this challenge."

Further opening up on his goal as the bowling coach, Morkel said:

"I understand and I know there's always going to be expectations of winning and stuff like that. And luckily I've experienced it in my playing days and I can share that knowledge. And, you know, I think we always, when I was sitting on the plane and I reflect back, we're so lucky in this team to have quality senior players."
"And, you know, the senior players, they'll lead the charge and it's, you know, our responsibility to support them and just give them the best sort of, you know, advice that we can give. But coming out here, this is a setup where, you know, it sort of operates by itself. So to protect that and make it better in small ways is going to be the goal," he concluded.
