"I could see through my peephole that he wasn't able to open the door"- How Ricky Ponting taught David Warner a lesson for pranking him

Australian star batter David Warner has pulled off a number of pranks on his teammate, but there was one prank that cost him dearly, which he pulled off against former captain Ricky Ponting.

Warner recalled the series against South Africa in 2010 when he and Ponting had rooms next to each other. The southpaw had added Vaseline to the door handle and also jammed the key hole so that Ponting couldn't open the door.

On the shown 'Breakfast with Champions', here's what David Warner had to say about Ricky Ponting's reaction to the prank:

"It was in South Africa in 2010, my first away series. Ricky Ponting's room was beside mine and I thought it would be a good idea to put Vaseline on his door handle and I also put vegemite in the keyhole. I could see through my peephole that he wasn't able to open the door. Someone must have told him it was me."

David Warner on how Ricky Ponting had the last laugh

While David Warner might have enjoyed pulling off the prank, he didn't know that he would get it back from Ricky Ponting. He recalled how his shoes were filled with salmon and eggs and how he learnt his lesson on not to prank on Ponting.

On this, Warner stated:

"Three weeks later I was back home and I didn't open my cricket kit. Later when I went to put my shoes on, there was salmon, eggs, etc. I could have gone to jail from the customs trying to clear this all up. I was like 'Who could do this?' and then I thought, Punter. I told him it was disgusting, but he then told me, 'You want to play a prank on me? I will have the last laugh'. That was the last time ever I pranked on Ricky Ponting."

The bond between Warner and Ponting has only grown stronger over the years and they are currently the captain and the coach, respectively, of the Delhi Capitals this season.
