“I have told him that before” - Jasprit Bumrah’s take on Mohammed Siraj during BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

While India has struggled in the second and third Test of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, Jasprit Bumrah has been their lone and consistent bright spot in the series so far.

India's bowling, the fast bowlers in particular, have failed to put the Australian batters under as much pressure as they would have liked to. While all the other pacers combined have accounted for 19 wickets (at the end of the first innings in Brisbane), Bumrah has also picked up 18 wickets.

Even in the ongoing third Test at The Gabba, Jasprit Bumrah alone picked up six wickets in Australia's batting innings. While the likes of Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Akash Deep are relatively new to international cricket, an experienced pacer in Mohammed Siraj has also struggled for consistency so far.

His fellow pacer and teammate Jasprit Bumrah opened up that he and Siraj have conversations and that Siraj is in a good space despite not being able to fire consistently.

“We have conversations. He bowled well before in this game he had a niggle and kept on bowling. Fighter attitude that and rest of the team love about it. Some days you bowl well and wickets come and sometimes it doesn’t. I have told him that before. He is in a very good space and great attitude,” Bumrah was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

The bowling unit is going through transition, says Jasprit Bumrah

Being the senior and leader of the pace attack in the current Indian Test team in Australia, Jasprit Bumrah also said that the bowling unit is going through a period of transition.

At the close of play on day three at The Gabba, Bumrah stated that the newcomers in the side or on their journey to get better and that he is trying to help them as well.

“We don’t as a team point fingers at each other. That you should be doing this, that, etc. We are going through a transition as a bowling unit. I am trying to help them. They will get better. This is the journey to get there,” Bumrah said.

The ace pacer added that the players will only learn about their game and improve by going through the journey.

“We have 11 players. I don’t see it as I have to do everything. As I said new team, this is the journey. Everyone has to go through it. Learn about your own game and improve. This is a journey," he concluded.
