"Iam only believe in Jassi bhai because game changer player he is only one guy"- Top 10 funny memesĀ from day 1 of 1st IND vs AUS Test BGT 2024-25

The Border-Gavskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia commenced on Friday (November 22) at the Perth Stadium. The bowlers from both teams ruled the roost on the opening day on a spicy surface as 17 wickets fell, which was the most on Day 1 of a Test in Australia in the last 70 years.

After opting to bat first, Team India got skittled out for 150 in 49.4 overs, following a brilliant performance from Australian pacers. Mitchell Starc (2/14) and Josh Hazlewood (4/29) did the damage with the new ball, and then Pat Cummins (2/67) and Mitchell Marsh (2/12) complemented them to wrap up India's innings in the second session.

Only Nitish Reddy (41), Rishabh Pant (37), and KL Rahul (26) put up a fight for the visiting team in the batting department.

Jasprit Bumrah then led his side from the front with a fiery spell of 10-3-17-4, triggering Australia's batting unit's collapse. Mohammed Siraj (2/17) and Harshit Rana (1/33) supported him well, as the visiting side reduced the hosts to 67/7 at stumps on Day 1. Australia trail by 83 runs with Alex Carey (19*) and Mitchell Starc (6*) at the crease and two more lower-order batters to follow.

"I thought we bowled quite well" - Australian pacer Mitchell Starc after stumps on Day 1 of 1st Test vs India in Perth

Speaking at the post-match press conference after Day 1, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc opined that their bowling unit did a decent job of restricting India to an under-par first-innings total.

The veteran player felt that visiting team bowlers also matched them with the ball to set up an intriguing contest. As quoted by cricket.com.au, Starc said:

"I thought we bowled quite well with perhaps (India posting) an under-par score and they've come out and matched us with the ball. We know coming to the west or playing at the Gabba, they're places you need to pitch the ball up and encourage driving because we know there's more pace and bounce in those two grounds."
"That was true again today, and both teams did that very well to encourage the shots and bring in the edges and there were catches taken."
