ICC Rankings: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill gain massive boost after impressive performances against Zimbabwe
Indian batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill received a massive boost in their ICC men's T20I rankings after their impressive outings in the recently concluded T20I series against Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue lost the first game but made a solid comeback to win the remaining four games and take the series 4-1.
Jaiswal was the second-highest run-scorer in the series despite playing just three games, scoring 141 runs at a sensational average of 70.50 and a strike rate of 165.88. He scored a quickfire 36 in the third T20I and then smashed a sensational 93* in the fourth T20I to grab the Player of the Match award. His performances have seen him rise four places to sixth in the ICC rankings among men's T20I batters with 743 rating points.
Shubman Gill led the Indian team in Zimbabwe and was the highest run-scorer in the series with 170 runs. He saw himself rise a massive 36 spots into the 37th position in the rankings among with 533 rating points. Suryakumar Yadav remains the highest-ranked T20I batter for India. He is in second position, with Travis Head leading the ICC rankings among men's T20I batters.
ICC rankings: Mukesh Kumar and Washington Sundar also make progress among bowlers
With the main bowlers getting rested after the T20 World Cup campaign, India's fringe bowling options got a chance to showcase their skills and both Mukesh Kumar and Washington Sundar rose to the occasion.
Mukesh played just three games but picked up as many as eight wickets at an economy rate of 7.37. His best performance came in the fifth T20I where he picked up figures of 4/22. This performance has seen him rise 21 places to 73rd position in the ICC Rankings among men's T20I bowlers.
Washington Sundar has had his injury woes in the past, but dished out an impressive performance on his comeback, also picking up eight wickets in the series at an economy rate of 5.16. He won the Player of the Series award and saw himself rise 36 spots into 46th place among men's T20I bowlers.
