ICC slaps 6-year ban on former assistant coach of Pune Devils in Abu Dhabi T10

Former Abu Dhabi T10 league franchise Pune Devils' assistant coach Sunny Dhillon has been banned from all forms of cricket for six years. Dhillon had been found guilty of breaching the Anti-Corruption Code set in place by the Emirates Cricket Board.

Dhillon was one of the eight people from Pune Devils who was charged with breaching the code. Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain and UAE local players Rizwan Javed and Saliya Saman were the other two players who were levied the charges. Batting coach Ashar Zaidi and team manager Shadab Ahmed were those among the staff to be charged.

The ICC announced that they had banned Dhillon on three counts today, December 10, which are as follows:

"Article 2.1.1 – Being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021."
"Article 2.4.4 - Failing to disclose to the DACO full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in Corrupt Conduct under the Code."
"Article 2.4.6 – Failing or refusing, without compelling justification, to cooperate with any investigation carried out by the DACO in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code."

At the end of the hearing of the written and verbal arguments, Dhillon was found guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board's Anti-Corruption Code and was subsequently banned for six years. His ban starts from his provisional date since when he was provisionally suspended, i.e., September 13, 2023.
