Bangladesh continue to be in the seventh position despite the defeat against South Africa. The Tigers have 30.56% points to their name after nine matches in the new WTC cycle. Here is the updated WTC table:

India, Australia and Sri Lanka continue to be the top three teams in the WTC standings. South Africa have strengthened their candidature for a top-2 finish after the win against Bangladesh. The top two teams will qualify for the ICC World Test Championship Final next year.

South Africa can cement their place in the top 4 of ICC World Test Championship points table next week

The second match of the Bangladesh vs South Africa Test series will start on October 29 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. If the Proteas complete a 2-0 clean-sweep in the two-match series against Bangladesh, they will tighten their grip over the fourth position in the WTC standings.

Assuming South Africa win the second Test match against Bangladesh, their points percentage will rise up to 54.17%. The Proteas will then become firm contenders for a place in the final because they will play their last two Test series in the ongoing cycle on home turf against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

It will be exciting to see if South Africa can qualify for their first WTC Final. They have come close in the past, but they have never made it to the summit clash.
