ICC World Test Championship points table (updated) as of October 26 after IND vs NZ 2024 2nd Test

New Zealand moved up from fifth to fourth in the ICC World Test Championship points table after a historic win against India. The Kiwis registered their first-ever series win against India away from home in Test cricket history.

Earlier in Bengaluru, New Zealand recorded their first victory in 36 years on Indian soil and they have completed their first Test series win on Indian soil after a 113-run victory in Pune. This win has helped the Black Caps increase their points percentage from 44.44% to 50%.

India continues to be the number one team in the ICC World Test Championship points table despite the defeat against New Zealand. The Indian team's points percentage has come down from 68.06% to 62.82%. They only have a 0.32% points percentage lead over the second-placed Australian side.

South Africa have dropped down from fourth to fifth in the standings as a result of New Zealand's victory. However, the Proteas are still alive in the race to the WTC final.

India will drop to 2nd in ICC World Test Championship points table if they lose 0-3 to New Zealand

New Zealand have a golden opportunity to complete a historic whitewash series win against India next week in Mumbai. The third Test will start on November 1 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

If the Black Caps win the third Test, they will tighten their grip over the fourth position, with their points percentage going up from 50% to 54.55%. India will drop down from first to second in the standings if they lose by 0-3. The Indian side's points percentage will reduce to 58.33% if they lose the Mumbai Test.

On the other side, if India wins the Mumbai Test, they will continue to reign at the top, with their points percentage increasing to 65.48%. It will be interesting to see if India can avoid an embarrassing whitewash on home turf.
