"If you don't have brains, you won't be as succcesful as Bumrah"- Tamim Iqbal hails ace pacer for brilliant spell in 1st IND vs BAN Test 2024

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal hailed India's ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his incredible combination of immaculate skill and high IQ after Day 2 of the ongoing India-Bangladesh first Test in chennai. Bumrah produced a sensational spell of 4/50 in 11 overs to help the hosts bowl Bangladesh out for a paltry 149 in their first innings.

Playing his first game for India since his incredible 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, the 30-year-old wasted no time by striking in his first over. Bumrah also crossed the 400-wicket mark in international cricket with his third wicket.

Speaking to the host broadcasters at stumps on the second day, Tamim was highly complimentary of Bumrah for his otherworldly bowling.

"He has incredible skills, but he has incredible brains as well on his shoulders. You may have a lot of skills, but if you don't have brains, you won't be as succcesful as Bumrah. So, both combination is deadly and this is what the world is watching," said Tamim.

Bumrah became the fifth fastest Indian bowler to the 400-wicket mark, third among pacers, after Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, Mohammed Shami and Anil Kumble. He completed the milestone in 227 innings, while the fastest to do so is Ashwin in 216.
