“If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it” - Prithvi Shaw’s cryptic post after being ignored for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024

Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has hit back at an anonymous Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official, who recently called out the player for his fitness. Shaw has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. He was recently left out of Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, which got underway today (December 21).

The MCA official slammed Shaw for his work ethic, saying the team cannot babysit him, echoing what Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer had said after winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earlier this month.

"Prithvi Shaw missed training sessions regularly during SMAT as he would enter the hotel at 6am after being out at night. Everyone has given him the inputs, we can't babysit him. No one is Shaw's enemy, he is his own enemy," the anonymous MCA official said to PTI (via X).

Hours after the MCA official's comment, Prithvi Shaw posted a cryptic post on social media. He urged everyone not to form opinions without fully knowing the facts.

"If you don't understand it fully, don't speak on it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts," Shaw wrote on Instagram story.

Prithvi Shaw left out of Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad

Prithvi Shaw has been left out of the Mumbai squad for the first three rounds of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead the side that also features Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Shardul Thakur.

The 25-year-old has been struggling for form and failed to register a single 50+ score in their title-winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign. He aggregated 197 runs in nine matches, with the highest score of 49 against Vidarbha in the quarterfinal.

Shaw was surprised to not see his name in the 17-member squad. He took to social media and highlighted his List A stats to express shock at his omission.

"Tell me god, what more do I have to see…if 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough…but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people believe in me still…cause I will come back for sure. Om Sai Ram," he wrote.

Mumbai will take on heavyweights Karnataka in their first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Saturday (December 21).
