"If he's not there, Australia would probably win 5-0"- Brad Haddin says Jasprit Bumrah performed like Shane Warne in Ashes 2005

Former Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has showered praise on Jasprit Bumrah for his performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Haddin stated that Australia would have whitewashed India 5-0 in the series had Bumrah not been a part of the Indian squad.

Jasprit Bumrah won the Man of the Series award for taking 32 wickets in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia. He even captained the Indian team in two Tests and led the side to their only win in the five-Test series at the Optus Stadium.

Speaking on Willow Talk, former Australian wicketkeeper batter Brad Haddin compared Bumrah's performance in BGT 2024-25 with Shane Warne's Ashes 2005 campaign and said:

"We have witnessed the greatness of Bumrah, the uniqueness of his action and how influential he was on every batter in the Australian team. It's in the same conversation as Warney's 2005 Ashes. That's exactly what it deserves. If he's not there, Australia would probably win 5-0." [37.49 onwards]

Warne took 40 wickets for Australia in the 2005 Ashes series against England. However, England won that series by 2-1.

"I wouldn't put him on top of that league" - Brad Haddin says Jasprit Bumrah has a long way to go in the G.O.A.T debate

The podcast host placed Jasprit Bumrah in the same list of fast bowlers as Glenn McGrath, Curtly Ambrose, and Wasim Akram. When asked if Bumrah is already at the top of that league, Brad Haddin replied:

"By the time he finishes his career, we will be talking about him in the same breath as McGrath and Wasim Akram. He was so influential over the series."
"I wouldn't put him on top of that league. He's got a long way to go. He's got 200 Test wickets. We hope to see him in some time. If he continues the same way he is going, his name will be in that conversation."

Bumrah was by far the best performer for India in the BGT 2024-25 series. Although he did not bowl in the second innings of the SCG Test, he ended with 32 wickets at an incredible average of 13.06 in the series.
