"If there are two options, we will always choose the aggressive option"- Harmanpreet Kaur on India playing aggressive cricket

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur highlighted the aggressive brand of cricket that the Women in Blue have been committed to playing of late. India are unbeaten in the ongoing Women's Asia Cup with convincing wins over Pakistan and UAE.

Especially in the game against the UAE, there was a sense of urgency in getting the team off to a flying start despite the Women in Blue losing three wickets in the powerplay.

Harmanpreet shed light on the changed mindset of the team and thus their changed approach. Here's what Harmanpreet Kaur told Star Sports:

"In the last 7-8 years, our team's performance has been very good. Even before that, we used to play cricket, but we weren't able to win so many tournaments, and we weren't able to play such impressive cricket. So we always discuss that if there are two options, we will always choose the aggressive option."

The Women in Blue posted a mammoth 201/5 against the UAE and there were enough glimpses of the aggressive approach Harmanpreet spoke about.

We used to get scared very quickly: Harmanpreet Kaur on the need for 'brave' cricket

Harmanpreet Kaur claimed that there was a time when the Indian team used to take a conservative route whenever they were in a tricky situation. However, she feels now the Women in Blue are a lot braver in their approach and willing to take calculated risks no matter what the situation is.

Speaking on this counter-attacking philosophy, Harmanpreet stated:

"Before, it felt like we were playing a little scared cricket. When things didn't go according to our plan, we used to get scared very quickly, but now we play a little brave cricket, so we make brave decisions. With time, we have forced people to come to the stadium through our performance."

India will take on UAE in their final Group A game on Tuesday, July 23.
