Australia cricketer Travis Head's wife, Jessica Davies, took to social media to celebrate her husband's century. The southpaw scored a sensational century in the presence of their newborn son on Saturday, December 7, during Day 2 of the second 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Adelaide.
Head came in to bat at No. 5 and played his natural game, bringing up his fifty off 63 balls. Mohammed Siraj gave him a reprieve on 76, and Head made the most of it, reaching his eighth Test century in just 111 balls—the fastest in a day-night Test.
Head’s wife, Jessica, took to Instagram to celebrate her husband’s century, which he achieved in front of their newborn son Harrison, whom they welcomed on November 4, 2024. She wrote:
“Harrison’s first cricket match and dad put on a show!! Go Trav!!”
The 30-year-old scored 140 off 141 balls, including 17 boundaries and four sixes. The left-hander has now accumulated 3,413 runs in 51 Tests at an average of 43.20, with 17 fifties and eight centuries to his name.
Travis Head’s century put Australia on top in the 2nd 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test
On Day 1, the visitors won the toss and opted to bat first. However, things didn’t go in their favor as India were bowled out for 180, with Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scoring with 42. Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler for Australia, taking six wickets.
In reply, Australia lost Usman Khawaja cheaply for 13. However, Nathan McSweeney (38*) and Marnus Labuschagne (20*) resisted well as Australia ended Day 1 at 86/1. On Day 2, McSweeney (39) couldn't add much to his score, while Steve Smith (2) failed to make an impact.
Labuschagne played a steady innings, scoring 64 off 126 balls. Meanwhile, it was Travis Head who stole the spotlight with an outstanding 140 runs. At the dinner break on Day 2, Australia were 332/8, leading by 152 runs.
