Indian musician and composer Palaash Muchhal took to Instagram stories to share a picture of Indian batter Smriti Mandhana after she scored her ninth ODI century. She achieved the milestone during the third and final ODI against Australia Women on Wednesday, December 11, in Perth.
The 28-year-old scored 105 runs off 109 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and one six. The century was Mandhana's fourth of 2024, making her the first woman cricketer to score four ODI hundreds in a calendar year. In 2024, she has accumulated 599 runs in 10 ODIs at an average of 59.90, including four centuries and one fifty.
Meanwhile, the singer posted a picture of Mandhana on Instagram Stories, accompanied by a song from the popular movie ‘Pushpa.’

Smriti Mandhana’s century goes in vain as Australia completes a whitewash in the three-match ODI series
Australia won the first two matches convincingly and were asked to bat first in the third game. The hosts didn't get off to an ideal start, losing four wickets for just 78 runs. However, Ashleigh Gardner (50) and Annabel Sutherland built a crucial 96-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Sutherland was outstanding, scoring 110 off 95 balls, and formed a 121-run stand for the sixth wicket with captain Tahlia McGrath, who remained unbeaten on 56. Australia finished at 298/6 in their 50 overs.
Arundhati Reddy was impressive for India, taking four wickets while conceding just 26 runs in her 10-over spell.
In response, India lost Richa Ghosh for just two runs. However, Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol (39) shared a solid 118-run partnership for the second wicket. Mandhana was outstanding, scoring 105 off 109 balls.
Unfortunately, no other Indian batter could make a significant contribution, as India collapsed from 189/3 to be bowled out for 215, falling short by 83 runs.
